Here at Needlepoint.com, we have developed strong relationships with the finest needlepoint finishers in the nation. We offer a wide variety of finishing services such as stockings, ornaments, pillows, and more. Stay tuned to learn more about each of our services and the different options for each!
Pillows
Pillows are a great way to convey the personality and creativity of the stitcher and can be displayed for years to come! For the shape of the pillow, we offer knife edge or box edge. For edging, we offer self-welt, ruffles, fringe, or cording. Your canvas can be mitered or appliquéd to create a pillow larger than the canvas itself. Fabric and edging for pillows must be provided by the customer.
Acrylic Trays
Acrylic tray finishing is a two-step process and can take 6+ months for both steps. First, we send your piece to a finisher who turns your canvas into a hardback cookie. Then, it goes to the acrylic finisher who custom cuts a tray to perfectly fit your piece. You have the option of your piece being permanent or removable in the tray as well as with or without handles on the sides.
Customers can also specify fabric and cording colors (up to 3).
Stand Ups
Stand ups can be finished in a variety of fun and creative ways including gusseted and domed. We also offer easel backs, picture frames, and acrylic stand ups. Customers can specify fabric and cording colors (up to 3).
Brick Covers
Brick covers make for a fun finish that can be a great addition to any home decor! Our finisher provides the brick insert and we typically recommend a wool cording or self-welt and a fabric base. Customers can specify fabric and cording colors (up to 3).
Eyeglass Cases
Eyeglass cases are a great way to turn your stitching into something useful in your everyday life! Our eyeglass cases will have a silk or satin lining and backing and cording of up to your choice of 3 colors.
Clutches
Needlepoint clutches are a great way to show off your stitching! You can choose your zipper color and fabric backing. We recommend a silk lining and velvet backing. You also have the option to add credit card pockets, a wristlet, a tassel or a divider.
Stockings
Needlepoint stockings are truly an heirloom piece that can be passed down for generations. Our stockings are typically self-welt with a velvet backing and a silk lining of your color choice. Cording may be used instead of self-welt but must be provided by the customer. We can also finish stocking cuffs the same way.
Key Fobs
Key fobs are a fun and quick stitch that make for a very useful finish. Most keyfobs are looped with a tab at the top but can also be finished flat as well. We offer a wide range of leather colors as well as lobster clips and letter embossing.
Ornaments
Ornament finishing is one of the most popular types of needlepoint finishing and can typically be finished in one of three ways - hardback cookie, gusseted, or soft/puffy. Customers have the choice of up to 3 colors for cording and the fabric backing color as well. Monogramming is also available.
Belts
Belt finishing has a very quick turnaround time and makes for great gifts. Make sure to watch our video on how to correctly measure your belt size so you know how much to stitch. We also recommend stitching 2-3 extra rows along the top and bottom of the design to be folded over to form the edge of the belt. Customers can choose brass or silver buckles and black, light brown, or dark brown leather.

Skill Levels
Level 1
Learning the foundation stitches, Tent, Continental and Basketweave Stitch. Learning the appropriate way to start and end threads. Chooses clearly defined designs with plenty of background and no shading. Likes to work large areas of one stitch that requires no compensation. Comfortable with using floss, pearl cotton, merino wool and/or tapestry wool.
Level 2
Expanding on foundation stitches and learning Alternating Continental, T-Stitch, Brick Stitch and its variations. Learning to read stitch diagrams that also include verbiage. Starting to learn how to compensate a stitch that cannot be completed within a defined area. Working with a mixture of single strand and pliable threads on one project to add depth and dimension. Adding stitches that build off of Tent such as Mosaic, Scotch and Cashmere.
Level 3
Learning more complicated stitches such as Rhodes, Byzantine, and Herringbone. Also adding composite stitches into repertoire such as Criss-Cross Hungarian. Reads stitch diagrams with or without numbers and verbiage. Understands compensation. Adding textured threads including man-made fibers intended for metallic, sparkly, and fluffy effects to projects and can work through shading effectively. Uses a stitch guide for projects and sticks to it. Comfortable plying and or blending threads.
Level 4
Enjoys a good stitch guide but is willing to dismiss parts in order to incorporate personal artistic interpretation. Has a library of "go to" stitches and can work through all variations of Turkey Work, Jessica Stitch, Crescent Stitch and Openwork Background stitches. Comfortable compensating in complex design areas. Ok with random stitches such as long and short stitches. Views a stitch guide as just a guide and is comfortable using stitches other than what is recommended.
